Top 10 Reasons for Christian Burnout

1. Distracted:
Phil. 4:8 Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Keep your mind off of things that distract and on being what God would have you to be. The devil knows how to get your attention, we must guard our thoughts and train ourselves to think on things that will help us and not discourage us.
2. Uncommitted:
Prov. 16:3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Mat. 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. An uncommitted Christian is going nowhere. We are either in or we are out; there is no part time Christians, many want the benefits of salvation but aren’t willing to commit everything to God.
3. No prayer life (no communication with God)
1 Thes. 5:17 Pray without ceasing. in other words don’t stop communicating with the Lord. Where there is no communication there is no relationship.
4. Little or no Bible study:
Ps. 119: 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. How can you reap the blessings of being a Christian if you don’t read the book that tells you how. The Bible is our flashlight in a dark world that thrives in darkness. The word of God is our handbook for survival, it will keep us alive in the Lord and dead to sin. The Bible tells us to hide the word in our hearts that we won’t sin against God.
5. Not getting the results you want
You will always get out of serving God what you put into it and then some, but you must be willing to participate if you want to benefit, if you don’t want anything from your relationship with the Lord you won’t get it. John 3:30 says that He must increase and I must decrease, this is the way we get results.
6. I don’t feel anything
Being a Christian can sometimes be very emotional and sometimes it’s not, we would love to feel the chills go up our spines every time we come to church but that's not the way it works. Christianity is walking in faith not by sight, smell or touch it’s knowing that you know that God is in control and he will never fail us. Going by feelings is contrary to faith.
7. I Don’t like rules
There is no way around the fact that rules must be in place or else we wouldn’t know when we were messing up. Living by God’s rules is living in blessing. I like to look at the word of God as directions and not rules, because when we follow the directions our lives work. When we go against the directions of the word we can become rebellious and the Bible tells us that rebellion is as witchcraft.
8. Stuck in a routine, no action
A routine is an excuse for not interested in anything new, if you’re not looking for the direction and leading of the Lord, you’re in a routine.
9. Unbelief
1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his son. God doesn’t owe us an explanation; he gave us his son to become sin for us and gave his life to prove the truth.
10. Angry with other Christians who aren't what they say they are
This is the number one tool of Satan uses to get Christians to turn away from Christianity. Mat. 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye. If you base your walk with the Lord on what other people are doing you will fail miserably at being a Christian, we are all sinners saved by grace and if you look close enough you will always be able to find something wrong with another Christian, because Christians are still human, and humans aren’t perfect and they will make mistakes or do something that we don’t like.

So many Christians are facing their everyday lives with problems and situations that are causing them to become weak and eventually falling away from their faith. Our world has become a place where people have allowed their lifestyles to become their God, many look at their career as their main focus, or their personal life as being the most important part of their life. As a result of this way of thinking many Christian's are burning out and giving up on the best thing that could possibly happen to them in their entire life.
We're talking about everlasting life and peace that cannot be explained in human terms, an eternity of living with the creator of the universe that has created a place called Heaven that will be beyond anything we could ever imagine or think.
So here's the big question, why is it so hard to continue serving the Lord when we know in our hearts that it is the right thing to do? Many have said that no one ever sets out to fail, you don' just wake up as a Christian one day and say, today I'm going to become a sinner again. Usually it takes place gradually and before you know it you look at yourself and you come to realize that your not where you once was as a Christian.
Every day we wake up and make a decision to be the best Christian we can be or just be average and get by. Getting by is what many of God's people get into the habit of doing and as a result become bored with Christianity and eventually give up on their faith.
God will never give up on you and the good news is that He is full of mercy and forgiveness so if you are struggling He is there to restore us. The Bible tells us that it is not His will that any should perish but have eternal life, He wants for you and I to succeed. He looks down upon us and cheers us on just like that proud parent who loves to see their child succeed in what they set out to do.
You may be in a place today where you may feel like you are not where you once were as a Christian, why not make a new commitment to the Lord and let Him give you a new outlook as His child today.
